TV & Mass Programming: Is the One-Eyed Monster Still in Your Home?

People often give me a strange look when I mention I don't own a television. Several have kindheartedly offered me one to which I reply, "Thank you so much but I don't have TV by choice."

Like most of America in the 1950's, I grew up watching the boob tube. Saturday morning cartoons, Lassie on Sunday night after the bath and Father Knows Best. I remember watching the Beatles on Ed Sullivan and the moon landing which today I think was a hoax but that's another subject you can read about elsewhere on this blog. 

Nevertheless, the TV was the center of our life and my folks even moved it to the kitchen so we could watch it during dinner. Back then, most folks didn't have more than one TV in the home.

Over the years, I would go back and forth with or without a TV for various reasons but after I woke up to the deception and lies being fed us, I just got tired of it altogether and tossed the thing out. In fact, where I now live is a furnished condo on the beach and…
